Designing Your Roadmap/Flight Path For The Year Ahead

When it comes to building a roadmap many people think that it has to be filled to the brim with precise details linked to a specific date and time. That could be the case for some but for others, a loose outline can also do the trick. It is so easy to get bogged down in the details when building a roadmap or flight path is never on size fits all.

If you relate to the term "flight path" then there's something I think you should keep in mind. As someone who has flown a plane, I can easily say that landing is the hardest to learn. So it's okay if your flight path starts successfully but you make a few bumps on the landing. Eventually... you learn how to perfectly land the plane and the dream that was once in your head is now a reality. Start with the knowledge of what you're doing because only then can you execute to perfection. Gain information from people around you, books, websites, or conferences. When you start absorbing everything around you it will better prepare you not only for planning your roadmap but executing it to the best of your ability.

If you want to take your flight path to a deeper level you can take a better look at what is surrounding you. What kind of luggage did you pack in your plane? Do you have a co-pilot to help you accomplish your goals?

I am big planning person who needs color coded schedules and master spreadsheet. To make a perfect roadmap it doesn’t have to look like that if you’re not passionate about it, it can simply be a piece of paper and pen with it hanging in a spot that you see everyday. That is the other part that i want to stress. Having this flight path or vision board visual that is in your line of sight, something that you are guaranteed to see everyday.

So after all this, when you take off you are prepared. You feel confident to advance the throttle to full power, stay on line, and get the correct airspeed. When you come back in to land on the runway it is almost guaranteed that your first solo landing you will have some bumps. After practice, studying, and time your execution on all parts of your flight path will be smooth.

Happy planning and good luck on your smooth landings.
